Lauren Humby

Lauren completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at Acadia University in 2018. During her time at Acadia she was a member of the Acadia Axewomen Varsity Rugby team and won Rookie of the Year for the 2014 season. She helped the Acadia Axewomen win the Atlantic University Sports (AUS) Rugby Championship in 2015, becoming the first team to win the championship beside St. Francis Xavier since Women’s Rugby was inducted into the AUS.

She returned to Newfoundland in 2018 and gained valuable experience as a kinesiologist before returning to Nova Scotia to pursue her Masters of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University. During the course of her Masters, Lauren has gained valuable experience working with fellow athletes, individuals with chronic conditions and chronic pain, Rheumatological conditions, neurological conditions, balance impairments, and amputees. She is passionate about developing functional exercise programs to help her patients achieve their movement goals. Lauren strives to take a holistic approach to treatment, using her compassion and growth mindset to help her patients grow and improve their physical capabilities so that they can continue to live the life they strive for.

Lauren prides herself on offering a safe space for patients and members of marginalized communities such as the 2SLGBTQIA populations.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys hiking with her rescue dog Freckles, camping, rugby, and spending time with her family. She intends to complete the East Coast Trail this summer and has recently begun bouldering and rock climbing. She enjoys learning about new ways to move your body and is constantly learning about new methods to improve her practice.
